Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family Update!

Thanks to the generosity of our club donation and additional private donations, we were able to provide nicely for our family. The Gonzalez family of five from Orange County, consist of Mom, Dad, 2 twelve year old daughters and a daughter 18 months old. We were able to purchase a nice outfit for each family member and a gift for each daughter as well as provide a grocery gift certificate for $150.00.

After wrapping all the gifts, Carol and Suzy delivered the packages to the Salvation Army Warehouse located inside Anaheim Stadium. It was not as easy as you might imagine to find a way in at night, no lights on and the main entrance closed, but we finally found a way inside! Then we had to find the warehouse, not an easy task in the dark. However, we did meet a wonderful fireman who has been involved for over 20 years with this program. He was kind enough to answer our concerns and show us the procedure that ensures each family would indeed receive the gifts donated specifically for them.

We went away with a feeling of satisfaction that we were able to bring a little joy to a family in need this Christmas. We believe this was the most positive and rewarding experience so far for our club Christmas donations. Thanks to ALL!

NO MORE FRANKS

By the time you read this Steve Frank will be working at his new job in Seattle. Michelle has family up there so it shouldn’t take them too long to adjust socially, now adjusting to the rain will be another story. I guess Steve will really get a chance to put his MT’s to work. We hate to see them leave our FITS family and wish them the best and look forward to seeing some Washington off-road pictures.

NEWEST MEMBER

We would like to welcome the newest member of our FITS family, Emily Joan Vique, born to Andy and Elaine on November 30. She was 8 lbs 6 oz, and 19 ½ “ long. The girls are doing well and the boys are adjusting.

TABOO GEOCACHES IN THE Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Colorado Desert District

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Numerous geocaches have been placed within the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park without authorization. No consideration was given to resource sensitivity in the placement of any of these geocaches, and many have been discovered in very sensitive locales. Caches have been removed from archeological sites, paleontological areas, bighorn sheep watering sites and in sensitive caves.

All physical geocaches placed within Anza-Borrego Desert State Park must be removed. If the cache owner does not take responsibility for removing his/her own cache, it will be removed for them and it will not be returned.

As of this date, December 21, 2007, placement of new physical caches will be prohibited in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Virtual Earth Caches will be considered on a case by case basis and must be approved before being published on the Geocaching.com website.

Contact information for Earth cache approval: Mark C. Jorgensen
