TRUCKHAVEN
By Carol Kelly

Participants were: Rick and Suzie Schaffer, Bob and Pat Matula, Paul and Debbie Coursey, Jeff and Nadine Doest and the boys.

Everyone met at 9:00 am approximately 1 mile off Hwy 86 on the East side of S22 next to the BIG Tin Shed. We entered our first trail approximately one mile from the shed and climbed to the plateau. Then we drove along the plateau to a rock canyon, went down one side and up another. We did a couple of these canyons before entering the Truckhaven area. The canyons were not difficult but fun to do.

At one point, Paul ended up in the lead and up on a ridge. The ridge was very narrow and Debbie got on the CB and said not to follow and described the ridge. So, what did we do? Follow of course!

We then went into the Truckhaven area played tag on the mud hills until approximately 2:30, when everyone agreed it was time for a cold drink back at camp.

The weather was great about 90 with a mild wind. We found a place in the shade for lunch and it was so comfortable we took our time. After going back to camp and relaxing, Paul and Debbie invited everyone to their Motel for a swim. So, we all loaded up went to town, had dinner and a swim. Over all it was a very nice weekend.

2007 WRANGLERS

The new ‘07 Wranglers are now at the dealers and they are quite different than the previous years.

The new TJ is 13" longer, 5" wider and 1" higher. It also weighs 600 lbs more, and comes with a 3.8 liter V6. On the plus side it has 2' less of a turning radius, better gas mileage, a 3 gallon larger gas tank, and 1.5" more ground clearance, and rear disc brakes.

The new Unlimited now only comes with 4 doors, is 19" longer, 3" narrower, 1.5" higher, with 2.5" more ground clearance. The turning radius increased by 5' and it picked up about 600 lbs. and the wheelbase has increased by 12.5". They also picked up the same engine, fuel tank and disc brakes that the TJ did.

HE’S BACK!

David Felando will be re-joining the club. He’s finally decided that he’s not really too old to wheel, and needs to get out of the house. Though, I don’t know when he’s going to be able to make a run, with all the traveling he does.

He’ll be recognized with the familiar white Jeep with a black hardtop, but this time it’s a little longer. He bought a new ‘06 Rubicon Unlimited and is having fun getting it “trail ready”. He’s not going to equip it to the extent of his last rig, just enough to do “Ric Runs”. At least that’s the plan, we’ll see if he sticks to it.

Since Carolyn went out and bought him his first Jeep as a surprise, he claims this one is hers. SURPRISE!
