TRIP REPORT LOCKWOOD/MILLER TRIP We met at the Flying J truck stop between 8:30 and 9:00. We had a total of nine vehicles with the following folks Jim Bays, David and Bob Felando, Jay and Ellen Jimenez Dave & Grace Trice, Jon & Dale Rice, and Rick & Suzy Schaffer. Guests were: Paul & Jeff Coursey, Rob McKane, Tom Pastorie, and Mark Miller. There was a group of Defenders at the on their way to the Rubicon, so we got to chit chat with them while we ware gathering up. The trip meeting was duly held with comments about the fire hazard, high winds and of course the rattlesnake conditions (if YOU got bit you were going to die). Any and all complaints were to be mailed to. Jerry MacDonald's PO box at General Delivery, Nome, Alaska. We were on our way at 9:05 with Bays and Schaffer having to stop off at Bay's campsite to drop off some food items for the barbecue that evening. Betty Was to remain in camp and be our "call the rangers if we don't show up by the end of the day" person. We drove off road to the base of the trail by the creek and aired down. One fellow with a gray Toyota truck preceded us up the trail, and as luck would have it, we never saw him again. The trail had been pre-run by Jim Bays, Dennis Sullivan and myself the previous Thursday, and the trail was still in the same excellent condition it had been two days before (maybe too good!). The first half of the trip was pretty uneventful with no U-turns. We ended up at the creek at 11:30 in time for lunch, with no other people in sight. The weather was perfect, but no water in the creek. We started up Miller at about 12:15, and most of us were at the top by 1:30. Jim Bays, of course, had trouble with his fuel supply and had to sit and wait for his Jeep to cool down. The trail appeared to have been "dressed up" with a few boulders missing and several rough spots filled in. We had a surprise visit by the Rice's son on his motorcycle. At the top of the mountain we stopped and aired up, followed by a little B.S. time. Three vehicles left for home and the balance headed to the Rice's place for a free barbecue. We all got out through the OHV park. The roads were all open. On the pre-run they had just oiled the roads and there were several detours, but Saturday it was open and clear.
TWO NEW MEMBERS We would like to welcome our two newest members to the club, they are Tom Pastorie and Paul Coursey. They both drive YJs, but we won't hold that against them. Paul lives in Placentia, and Tom lives in Costa Mesa. Welcome aboard guys, and hope to se you on many runs. ANOTHER NEW MEMBER Michelle and Steve Frank are the proud new parents of Stephen Timothy Frank, born at 7:57 pm on June 14. He was 8 lbs. and 20˝" long. CONGRATULATIONS!

MEETINGS IN THE PARK We had our first meeting in the park for this year and it was a big success! With the prospect of free food, time were members that we haven't sew for some time. The Frank's even showed up with their 2 week old son Stephen. There was plenty of food, and I don't think anyone went home hungry. If any of you showed up at Don-A-Vee by mistake, you missed a good time.

Jungle Jim will probably continue to, maintain it. Please, change your "favorites" to point to the new site.
YES, I AM CRAZY My aunt recently died and left me my uncle's old flat fender Jeep. It's a '43 MB from WWII. My uncle died in '79 and it's been sitting outside since then. It's going to need a little work basically EVERYTHING is going to have to be gone through and either restored or replace. I will be restoring it to it's original beautiful OD color and Army markings from my dad's unit. It you would like to help with the restoration or donate to my "SAVE THE WILLYS" fund, just let me know.
